drum racks

id love to hear peoples opinions about drum racks. whether or not to get one.? one person told me that they were great but another said they were clumbersome and too heavy. i just thought that it would allow greater set-up variation and comfort because (being a traditional grip player) it would help moving the toms back or forward left or right!?

any thoughts and experiences??

I use a Dixon single curved drum rack.I'm all for racks in which u may have a larger kit.One can really tailor a comfy drum rack to suit thier technique.It was cumbersome at first,but not as cumbersome as dealing with double braced stands.Alas i have yet to see here in Vancouver a proper universal case fore any size rack.Mic placement is easier when playing live.Exact set up all the time was a bonus.Clamps-wing nuts-hexagonal tools-,suck ass.......beats....

I use a pearl icon rack.. i also have the gibraltor rack.. i never use it..

I use 2 double braced stands if i play with a 4 peice.. anything bigger i use a rack, it' just fast, easy.. if you are doing the club thing.. pick your whole kit up minus the bass and snare and move it (with another guy or two). everythign stays put, easy and massive amount of flexiblity in posistioning.. hmm. yea.. bit heavier, especially the icon rack, but hey I just see it as more need excersise
